

She was born December 2, 1913 in Shirley, IL, the daughter of Lucas and Lena Bowman Fitzgerald. A graduate of Bloomington High School, she worked at a variety of jobs before coming to State Farm Insurance Company where she retired after more than 40 years of employment.
Hazel married Earl Houghton on October 27, 1945. Earl died in a rail-yard accident on March 14, 1948. She married Edward L. Stubblefield on Feb. 6, 1954. They lived near Stanford and celebrated 56 years of marriage before he died on May 26, 2010. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Wilbur.
Hazel was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Bloomington. She most recently resided at Evergreen Village in Bloomington where she was lovingly cared for by the staff. There were many residents there who loved her dearly. In January she was transferred to McLean County Nursing Home, where she passed. Hazel so appreciated the help and care of her good friend and Power of Attorney, Carol Lowry who stood by her side in her later years.
Hazel is survived by two nephews: Frank Fitzgerald of Bloomington and Terry (Alice) Fitzgerald of Clinton, IL and a cousin by marriage Don (Wanda) Hanes of McLean, IL
Burial will be at Funks Grove Cemetery in April of 2015 and officiated by Pastor Keith Ferguson from Wesley United Methodist Church.
