Janiece J Stanger

Janiece J Stanger of Downs passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026.Janiece was born December 17, 1934, in Downs. A daughter of Russell and Inis Romine. She married Delmar Dean Stanger on September 12, 1954, in Downs. He preceded her in death.

Survivors include her daughter, Charlotte (Toby) Twyford of Downs, son, Bradley (Debbie) Stanger of Bloomington, grandchildren - Dawn (Jamie) Pillow of Cooksville, Tyler (Paula) Stanger of El Paso, Ben Flurer of Bloomington, and Daniel Twyford of Normal, great grandchildren - Charlee Pillow of Cooksville and Kacie Twyford of Normal. Siblings: Ronald Romine of Bloomington, Owen (Patricia) Romine of Stanford and Linda (Bill) Bourret of Bloomington. She had several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Bonita Sue, grandson, Shawn Twyford, siblings: Barbara Layten, Scott Romine, Darlene Wissmiller, Patricia West, Lois Davis, Kay Romine, Janet Wagner, Nadine Weber, Marilyn Romine, Madeline Bidner, and Lynn Romine.

She was a member of the Downs United Methodist Church.

She was so proud of her family, and it was always a very special time when they all came home. She enjoyed baking, crocheting and growing flowers. She retired from State Farm in 1997.

Visitation will be at 10:00a.m. – 11:00a.m. on January 26, 2026, with service to follow at 11am, at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. There will be a family graveside service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Downs United Methodist Church or Alzheimer’s association.
