

Surrounded by his family, Jerry passed away peacefully and went home to be with Jesus on January 20, 2024.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sue Fletcher of Bloomington, Illinois. He is also survived by his children, Michael (Beth) Fletcher of McKinney, Texas and Julie (Jared) Newton of Normal, Illinois. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Natalie Fletcher, Brady Fletcher, Haley Baughman, McKenna Baughman, and Payton Newton. Jerry took great joy in being a guiding presence for his family.
Jerry was an active member of Calvary United Methodist Church for 49 years where he served as church treasurer, sang with the church choir, and was on various committees.
In 1965, he began his career in Columbia, Missouri with State Farm Insurance. Jerry later transferred to Bloomington, Illinois where he finished out his 33 year career as a superintendent at the Illinois Regional Office.
A proud supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, Jerry's enthusiasm for the game was infectious. He loved to share with others his joy for the Cardinals. He was a softball coach for many years and found great passion in attending all of his children and grandchildren’s activities.
Despite challenges coming from Retinitis Pigmentosa which affected his eyesight, his positive outlook on life never held him back.
Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelley Fletcher, as well as by his parents, Audrey and Jesse Fletcher. He is also reunited with his sister, Judy Wells, and niece, Kathy Bumeter.
During this difficult time, we remember Jerry for the warmth and kindness he brought to all who knew him. His legacy will endure through the love he shared and the lessons he imparted.
Visitation will be Wednesday January 24th from 4:00pm-7:00pm. His funeral will be Thursday January 25th at 11:00am. Both services will be held at Calvary United Methodist Church, 1700 N. Towanda Ave. in Normal, Illinois.
