She was born July 10, 1936, in Chicago, IL to Kenneth and Julia (Caterina) Gallagher. She married the love of her life, Thomas R. Schoenig on July 8, 1961, in Chicago, IL. He passed away January 23, 2023.
Judy was a loving mother, wife, grandmother, and friend. She was kind hearted, stoic, compassionate, and always put others needs before her own. She always found the good in everyone and every situation and was always one with a kind word. She enjoyed sitting outside during warmer weather and reading, even though she didn’t know how to swim, she loved floating in the family pool, and spent a lifetime keeping after her husband, Tom, which was a full time job. Her grandchildren were the apple of her eye, and she coined the term “Love you more” which was heard often. Her family will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her two sons, Kenneth R. (Sandra) Schoenig of Bloomington, IL and Thomas R. (Abigail) Schoenig of McKinney, TX; six grandchildren, Kenneth Thomas Schoenig of Indianapolis, IN, Elyse Michelle Schoenig of Kansas City, MO, Emily Judith Schoenig of Bettendorf, IA, Nicole Marie Schoenig of St. Louis, MO, Madison Julia Schoenig of McKinney, TX and Savannah Detberner of McKinney, TX; and three siblings, Shirley Gallagher of Schaumburg, IL, Peggy Todd of Schaumburg, IL and Kenneth Gallagher of Chicago, IL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her sister, Jacquelyn White.
A Catholic Mass service will be held at St. Patrick Church of Merna, in Bloomington, IL, on May 11th, 2024. Arrangements are in care of East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, IL.
