Laurence J Woods

Laurence J. Woods, 92, of Bloomington, passed away at 6:45a.m. On Monday March 21, 2011 at McLean County Nursing Home in Normal, IL.

He was born February 1, 1919 in Lee County, IL the son of Clayton and Dolly Hymbaugh Woods. He served his country in the United States Army during WWII he was a Tech Sargent in the Infantry Black Hawk Division serving in Both Europe and the South Pacific. He received several medals and commendations the highest being a Bronze Star. He Married Wilma Helen Hall on March 9, 1941, she survives him

Laurence is also survived by two sons Larry and Gary Woods, three grandchildren; Trevis, Chad and Clayton Woods and five Great Grandchildren Kaleb, Tanner, Addison, Sawyer and Emily Woods.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.

Laurence enjoyed a long career for GTE as a storeroom clerk before retiring in 1983. He was a member of The American Legion and First United Methodist Church in Normal.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00am Friday March 25, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, IL. Visitation will take place one hour prior also at East Lawn Funeral Home.
