Linda Kay Darlene Murphy

She was born in Lockport, IL, on October 5, 1951, daughter of Fred R. and Mattie M. (Jones) Carr.

Surviving are her daughter, Wendy Murphy of Bloomington; grandchildren, Chris (Felicia) Murphy, Stephanie Crum, Erin McHugh and Joey McHugh; great-grandchildren, Aiden Dam, Landon Murphy, Kai Murphy and “Baby” Murphy. Also surviving are siblings, Diane (Frankie) Kucer, Janice (Tom) Arnette and Robin (Linda Lee) Carr; nieces and nephews, Cyndi Arnette, Jennifer (Chris) Kucer, James Kucer and Scottie (Toni) Kucer and great-nieces and nephew, Payton, Brooke, and Jackson.

Linda will be remembered for her contagious smile, tireless work ethic, and a heart of gold that never had anyone question her love. Linda was a workaholic in the best sense, dedicating many years to KineticSystems, where she found some of her greatest friends who remained even in retirement.

Although she would deny it, her green thumb always allowed her to make sure she had a beautiful garden of flowers. If one of us moved, she made sure to be there with some of her flowers/plants to start you off as one of the many ways to share her love.

She had a light-hearted sense of humor and a laugh that could keep you smiling for hours. Her humor had a far range, however, not when it came to her bacon or burgers. The bacon had better be crisp and the burgers well done, almost burnt. While someone would find this to be annoying, her family thought of it as nothing but "that's our grandma and we love her!"

Above all else, Linda was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, always coming before her own needs. She gave endlessly of herself to ensure her loved ones were cared for, supported, and surrounded by love.

Linda will forever be in our hearts and live on through the many cherished memories.
