Lyman R. Veach -- July 25, 1948 to June 21, 2025. Lyman R. Veach, 76, Normal, passed away Saturday, June 21, at the McLean Co. Nursing Home. He was born July 25, 1948 to Virgil and Naomi Bowen Veach, Chrisman, IL. He married Naomi Nave on June 21, 1969. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1990.
He later found love again and on May 25, 1991 he married Loretta Phillis Still. She survives along with their children, Michelle Blue, David Veach, Richard Veach, Jami May, and Teresa Christianer; 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Lloyd, and 1 great-grandchild.
After graduating from Chrisman High School, he attended Lincoln Christian College. He then started preaching at churches in Central Illinois. He then served in the Army from 1974 to 1980 as an Assistant Chaplin. He was stationed in South Korea and Germany. After returning to the states, he attended Eastern Illinois University and graduated with a degree in Sociology.
Visitation will be Friday, June 27, from 4 – 7 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Rd., Bloomington, IL. The funeral service will be Saturday, June 28 at 10:30 am at College Park Christian Church, 116 N. Cottage Ave, Normal, IL. Burial will be at the Gridley Cemetery, Gridley, IL
