Mary L. Swigart

Mary was born December 2, 1924 in Henry, IL to Otto and Virginia (McVicker) Potter. She was married to Donald Swigart March 2, 1946 and together they raised 4 children. She was a nurse at Heritage Manor in Bloomington for 22 years. After retiring, she and her husband visited all 50 states and parts of Canada. They were both members of the Target Senior Coffee Club. They were married for 66 years before Don passed away in 2012. She was a very sweet woman.

She is survived by her children Mary Hayward of Normal, IL, Steve Swigart of Hope Mills, NC, Laura (Gale) Shurtz of Manto, IL and Patricia (Randy) Balmer of Lakeville, IN; 11 grandchildren Susan, Sandra, Dale, Karen, Stephanie, Jeremy, Kathryn, Dawn, Melissa, Rebecca, and Ron; and 18 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister in law Elizabeth and her great grandchild Salina.

Vitiation for Mary will be Friday, August 21 at 10:00am at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Rd., with the service to begin at 11:00am. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
