Born April 21, 1953 in Karachi, Pakistan to Abdul Sultan Nota and Malek Nota; he married Barbara Deavers on October 17, 1980 in Bloomington, IL.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Nota of Normal; children, Zaheer (Katrina) Nota of Brooklyn, New York, Shiraz (Nao) Nota-Dobashi of Yokosuka, Japan; granddaughter, Aaliyah Nota-Dobashi; brothers, Feroz, Aziz, and Amin; sister, Shenaz; and mother-in-law, Joanne Deavers.
Preceding him in death were his parents and father-in-law, Denzil Deavers.
Rafiq was a lab technician with Nestle in Bloomington for many years prior to his retirement.
Memorial services were held on Monday, December 30, 2024 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Normal with minister Marcia Buchs officiating.
Memorials are suggested to Our Saviour Lutheran Church in Normal.
Cremation arrangements are under the care and direction of East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington.
