

He was born on November 6, 1955 in Pontiac, son of William E. and A. Virginia Peterson Holz. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Holz.
Surviving are his three children, Chase Holz and Kyle Holz, both of Hudson and Heather Holz of Portland, OR; his long-time girlfriend, Mandy Dahm and two grandchildren, Caysen and Cailey Holz. Also surviving are one sister, Carol (Terry) Miller and one brother, Glenn Holz, all from Toluca; a sister-in-law, Linda Holz of Varna and several nieces and nephews.
Dick worked for the City of Bloomington for over 30 years, first with Parks and Rec and retiring from the water department, where he made many lifelong friends.
He enjoyed boating and snowmobiling and was a sports enthusiast, specifically the Chicago Bears and Chicago White Sox. Dick loved the outdoors, and riding his golf cart around Lake Bloomington and he was very passionate about golfing with family and friends.
He will be remembered for his joy of grilling food for his family and friends, especially before boating together, and his ability to make a new friend anywhere he went.
His memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, April 4, 2026 at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL, where visitation will begin at 10 am. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friends of Everbloom, c/o McLean County Soil and Water Conservation District or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society.
