Schuyler Lynn Long-Edmondson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 19, 1958 to parents Joan Claire Long and Emmit Long Jr. She was the second oldest of four children that were born of this union. Schuyler graduated from George Henry Corliss High School in Chicago, IL and later attended Illinois State University in Bloomington, IL. Schuyler married Derrick Edmondson Sr., and had 3 children during their union; Shanelle Pilar Holland, Derrick Glenn Edmondson Jr., and Darren Cartier Edmondson.
Throughout her lifetime, Schuyler worked many different jobs, but found most solace in her job as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She had the gift of gab and her home health clients absolutely loved her!
While Schuyler dealt with many personal trials and tribulations in life, she always found time for family. She was talkative, loving, and always the life of the party. We knew the function would be “lit” if she was in attendance. She made sure that she called and checked on everyone even up until the day of her passing. She was “the glue” that continued to hold the family together over the years.
Schuyler peacefully gained her wings on December 26, 2021 in her home in Bloomington, IL, and is now resting in the arms of her Heavenly Father. Schuyler is preceded in death by her mother Joan Claire Long, father Emmit Long, Jr., older brother Derrick Walker, and youngest son Darren Cartier Edmondson.
Schuyler leaves to cherish her memory two children Shanelle Pilar Holland and Derrick Glenn Edmondson Jr., (Kayla Edmondson); nine grandchildren: Kori Holland, Derrick Edmondson III, Jayla Westhoff, Massiah Edmondson, Kyson Shipp, Antonio Edmondson, Rosalie Witt, Micah Edmondson, and Layla Edmondson; 3 siblings Bridget Edmondson, Emmitt Long III, and Brennan Long; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many, many friends.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A public visitation will be held on Saturday, January 8, 2021 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm, with a service at 12:00 pm at East Lawn Funeral Home. A recessional meal will follow the service.
