He was born January 18, 1951 in Elgin, Illinois to Marvin and Alice (Ward) Martens. He married Susan Katherine Memmott in Mt. Prospect, Illinois on March 13, 1971. She survives.
Also surviving are his sons, Thomas Martens and Paul Martens; daughter, Katie Conn; 7 grandchildren, Jade Martens, Jordan Martens, Payton Martens, Justin Martens, Justice Conn, Tyler Bell and Jacob Bell; 3 brothers, Marvin Martens, Gary Martens and Ronald Ward; 2 sisters, Donna Ahlstrand Ward and Dena Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents, and son, Jason Martens.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington.
