

He was born February 17, 1928 in Knox County, IN, son of Jesse Willard and Ada Ethel Curry McCord. He married June Lane.
Surviving are his wife of Lexington; one daughter, Linda Benedict of Lexington; one son, David (Laura) McCord of Des Moines, IA; seven grandchildren, Londa Anderson, Leesa (Stephen) Friedmansky, Lance (Andi) Benedict, Lindsey (Michael Powell) Benedict, and Jess, Kyle and Claire McCord, and nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Korbin and Britan Anderson, Ashton, Skyler, Logan and Blaine Friedmansky, Landes Benedict and Gabriel Powell. Also surviving are one brother, Bruce McCord and one sister, Joy White, both of Vincennes, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers and two sisters.
Wallace was a United States Army Veteran.
He retired from teaching after 28 years in the Lexington (Unit 7) School System. Wallace knew the Lord and enjoyed teaching the Bible. He also enjoyed carpentry and woodworking. Wallace was a family man and especially loved spending his time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was a member of Eastview Christian Church, 1500 Airport Road, Normal, IL, where a Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2012, with the Rev. Michael Baker officiating. The family will host a memorial visitation/open house in Wallace’s memory from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at the Church of Christ, Uniting, 108 N. Pine, Lexington, IL. Cremation rites have been accorded by East Lawn Funeral Home.
