Willie Lee Paul Shorter Sr., affectionately known as "West Side Willie," passed away on January 12, 2026, at the age of 84. Born on December 3, 1941, in Clarksdale, Mississippi, Willie was the beloved son of Adam and Fannie Shorter.
On January 20, 1968, he married the love of his life, Isabell Ross. Together, they shared a life full of love and happiness. Willie was known for his humorous and faithful nature, traits that endeared him to all who knew him.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Isabell Shorter, his son, Willie Lee Shorter Jr., and his daughter, Gretta Campbell. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Chanell, Antavia, Aaliyah, and Gabrielle, and his great-grandchildren, Alanni and Aubrey. Willie is also survived by his siblings, Amy Baker, Mae B. Blue, Sam (Gertrude) Shorter, and Nathan (Mattie) Shorter, as well as his favorite cousin, Alice Williamson, and a host of family and friends.
Willie was preceded in death by his parents and twelve siblings. An avid fisherman, he also enjoyed hunting and was known as the family jokester, always bringing smiles and laughter to those around him.
West Side Willie will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
