

She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, with an hour visitation before the service at the First United Methodist Church, 211 N. School St., Normal, IL, the Rev. John McIntosh officiating.
She was born April 3, 1926, at Hale, Missouri, to Dr. Albert Franklin and Elfie Violet Brown Kemp. She married Donald Leon White on February 28, 1949, in the Methodist Church of Hale, Missouri. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1983. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John David Kemp, Joseph Robert Kemp, and her sisters, Etta Elizabeth Kemp, and Margaret Ellison Kemp.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Richard) Woods of Normal and her son, James Michael (Wilma) White of Elberta, AL, and her twin sister, Florence Jane Kemp Ratiliff of Kansas City, MO. She is also survived by her grandchildren of whom she was so proud and fond, Richard Woods, Jr., Kathryn Woods, and Todd (Deanne) Perring, and great grandchildren, Sydney Monroe, Corinne Monroe, Maggie Perring, Patrick Perring, and Macie Perring. She also had many nieces and nephews.
She attended Hale Grade School and Hale High School, graduating in 1943. She graduated from Kirksville State Teachers College (now known as Truman State University). She taught a year at Leaton, MO, a rural school, which is East of Hale. Then she and her husband moved to Illinois. She taught at Hartsburg-Emden School, Bellflower High School, and Chiddix Junior High School in Normal, retiring in 1981 from Unit 5. After her retirement from Unit 5, she and Don moved to Hale, Missouri, where she resumed teaching in the area at the Bosworth School. In 1984, she returned to Illinois to be closer to her family and became a foster parent. She was very proud of being a math teacher and the numerous students that she was able to help master their fear of math
