

April Renee Ascherman, age 29, of Bloomington, died Friday afternoon at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. She was born April 6, 1984 in Lawrenceburg and grew up in Ripley County. She graduated from South Ripley High School where she was a Varsity Cheerleader, the 2002 Homecoming queen, sang in the Show Choir and was a member of the Journalism Club. She loved to sing, participate in sport activities and most of all loved her three boys and one step-daughter. She was a member of the House of Prayer in Bloomington.
She is survived by her mother and father, Regina (Day) and Steven McConnell, of Osgood, Indiana, her fiancé, Brandon Stephens, of Springville; her two sons, Lane Stephens and Tyler Stephens, both at home, one step-daughter, Nevaeh Stephens, at home, two sisters, Stevie Ann McConnell, of Delaware, Indiana and Meghan Dawn McConnell, of Osgood, Indiana, one half-sister, Amy Ascherman, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; one half-brother, Cody Ascherman, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Emma McConnell, of Pierceville, Indiana and one paternal grandfather, Robert Lee Ascherman, of Lawrenceville. She was preceded in death by one sister, Robin Day, in 1981, one infant son, Brier Wayne Stephens and grandparents, Harley Day, Naomi Day, Carol Ascherman and Hugh McConnnell.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel in Bloomington with Pastor Mike Kelly officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the April Ascherman Funeral Fund at any Old National Bank location.
