

Brenda W. Harris, age 63, of Bloomington, died Wednesday morning at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Born July 16, 1948 in Burkesville, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Creed Thomas “Tommy” and Mary Kate (Harvey) Norris. She moved to Bloomington from Burkesville when she was seventeen years old and worked at R.C.A. She last worked as a bartender and waitress at the American Legion Post #18 in Bloomington for over 20 years.. She loved home decorating and was a member of the American Legion Post #18, V.F.W. Post #604 Amvets Post #2000 and Moose Lodge Ladies Auxiliaries.
She is survived by her loving husband and caregiver, Delmar R. “Randy” Harris, of Bloomington; her daughter, Kimberly Ann Harris-Spicer (Ron), of Bloomington, one granddaughter, Kaylee Lynn Smith, of Bloomington; two great-grandchildren, Kristopher and Karson; three sisters, Wilma Fields, of Glasgow, Kentucky, Cathy Armstrong(Jerry),of Burkesville, Kentucky and Mary “Nita” Conley (Morris “Buck”), of Greenwood, Indiana; two brothers, Sammy Norris (Jenny), of Burkesville and William H. Norris (Diena), of Ellettsville; two step-brothers, Donald Wright (Jan), of Brandon, Florida and Rondal Wright (Carol) of Anderson, Indiana ; one step-sister, Mary Ruth Smith (Noel), of Burkesville; one brother-in-law, Grady Polston, of Burkesville, one sister-in-law, Geraldine “Jerri” Norris, of Bloomington, several nieces and nephews and her Chinese Crested dog, “Puffy”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Sally (Groce) Wright Norris, four brothers, James Norris, Kenneth Jr. Norris, Malcom Norris and Jackie Norris, three sisters, Ruby Clark, Betty Corey, Becky Polston, one step-brother, Bobby Wright; three brothers-in-law, Jesse Fields, Clifford Daniels, and Don Clark and two sisters-in-law, Shirley Wright and Hildreth “Bunt” Norris.
The funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel with Chaplain Wayne Trisler officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. A reception will follow at the American Legion following the service at the cemetery. Friends may visit the family on Sunday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be given to I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice.
