

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Sue Davis Baxter; a daughter, Jan (fiancé Tracy Taylor) Fuller of Bloomington; a son, John (wife Tonya) Baxter of Colfax; four grandchildren, Rachel (Don) Fuller, Rebecca Ruschau, Danielle Fuller and Meagan Fuller; seven great grandchildren, Merissa, Annabelle, Grant, Jacob, Cailyn, Brantley and Levi; two sisters, Sandra Barkes of Columbus and Jane (Kevin) Parsley of Springville; a brother, Bill (Terry) Baxter of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Sean Ruschau; two nieces, Kala Parsley and Kristen Parsley; and a nephew, Jeff Barkes.
Jack was a member of First Church of God where he had been a trustee and deacon. He was retired from Sears after 34 years of service, he was a 46 year member of the Ellettsville Fire Department having joined the Department in 1971 and serving in some sort of leadership role shortly after attending his first meeting, including Chaplain, Secretary, Captain and Assistant Chief. The fire department nicknamed him the “Energizer Bunny as he kept going and going. Within a few months of returning from having a brain tumor removed he was working circles around the other fire fighters. He was described by his family as the most patient person they knew and always remained positive even with the health issues he faced. Jack was completely devoted to his faith and his family.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Monday, May 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM in Stonybrook Community Church of God, 3701 N. Stonybrook Blvd with Reverend David Dittman officiating, burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, May 7, 2017 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, 700 W Gourley Pike and 1 hour prior to services in the church.
