John Austin Peterson

John Austin Peterson, age 73, of Bloomington, died Sunday morning at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born March 7, 1938 in Harrodsburg, Indiana, he was the son of Ulis and Gladys (Underwood) Peterson. He retired after working for 37 years as a floor tile installer. He mostly did work for Marburger Floor Covering and Hays Floor Covering, both in Indianapolis. He was a member of the Carpenters Union, Local #60. He loved to watch Indiana University Basketball and was an avid fan of Bloomington High School South Basketball. He also enjoyed playing Billiards.

He is survived by his wife, Wanda (Deckard) Peterson; two daughters and son-in-law, Luanna and Ben Paterson, of Indianapolis and Joanna Peterson, of Bloomington; one step-daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Richard Hoff, of Bloomington; three grandchildren, Cameron Paterson, Leah Paterson and Sarah Hoff, three nieces and his cat, Snuggles. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Brown and Dorothy Morris, one brother, William Peterson and by one niece.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 A.M. Thursday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel with Rev. L.D. Axsom officiating. Burial will follow in Clover Hill Cemetery in Harrodsburg. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 P.M.
