

Mary Smail Johnson, age 63, of Bloomington, passed away after a long illness on Saturday (01/28) at her residence. Born July 31, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, she was the daughter of Wallace and Barbara (Smail) Johnson. She attended school at Indiana University, a life-long member of Sam’s Club and was instrumental in starting both the Salvation Army and the Community Montessori School. She dedicated her life to being a mother and grandmother. She loved nothing more than being with her family.
Mary is survived by her two sons Chris Salzarulo, of Bloomington and Zach Ratliff, of Chicago; one daughter Jennifer Sons, of Bloomington; one brother, Joseph Johnson, of Chicago and two grandchildren, Ally Sons, age 10, and Isaac Sons, age 7
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, February 12 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel; 700 W. Gourley Pike.
