

Norma Jean Branam, age 82, of Bloomington, died Thursday evening at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. Born August 24, 1931 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Ira and Pearl (Prince) Phelps. She was retired from Downtown laundry. She had previously worked for Sarkes Tarzian, as a cook for Indiana University and at Union Carbide and General Products in Chicago. She loved watching I.U. sports, listening to Country music and watching daytime t.v. dramas, especially “Days of Our Lives”.
She is survived by her loving children, Patty Branam, Larry (Sylvia) Branam and Sharon (Terry) Krebbs, all of Bloomington and Rebecca (Jeff) Calabrese, of Harrodsburg; one step-son, Dale (Loretta) Horton, of Bloomington, one step-daughter, Shirley Sipes, of Bloomington, sixteen grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Byron Branam, second husband, Chester Horton,daughter-in-law, Emma Branam, one sister, Mable McNeely, three step-children and three grandchildren, Jimmy, Michael and Anna.
The funeral service will be at 12 noon on Friday at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene and Harrell Chapel with Rev. Richard Borden and Dale Horton officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Friday at the funeral home.
