Patricia Ann Dunn Drilling, 86, died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Owen Valley Health Campus in Spencer, Indiana, where she had lived for several years. She previously lived in Bloomington for 40 years and before that in Indianapolis.
Mrs. Drilling was born February 13, 1927, in Sioux City, Iowa, to William and Mabel Miller Dunn. She graduated from Central High School in Sioux City in 1945 and from Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, in 1949. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She was married to Norbert G. Drilling on November 22, 1952, at Iowa State in Ames. Mr. Drilling died in 2002.
Mrs. Drilling was a registered dietician and worked for part of her career at Indiana University. She also served as a consultant, conducting workshops for nursing home staffs. She enjoyed painting, traveling, and being a dude rancher in the summers in Montana. While living in Bloomington, the Drillings were members of St. Charles Borromeo Church.
Survivors include her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ruth and Don Kuhn of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sister-in-law, Grace Kandler of Apple Valley, Minnesota; and six nieces and nephews. Her closest relatives were her Miller cousins and their families from Nebraska – Jana, Monty, Lynn, and Scott.
Services will be at 10 a.m. on April 20, 2013 at Deremiah Frye Mortuary, 700 West Gourley Pike, in Bloomington. Burial will be in Valhalla Cemetery in Bloomington.
