Anthony Michael Cervasio, Jr. age 86, of Boynton Beach, Florida passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. Anthony was born March 30, 1935 in Newark, NJ, a son of the late Anthony and Josephine Cervasio.
After graduating from high school, Anthony, who liked to be called Tony, enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving one year in the Korean War and after the war he was stationed in Okinawa. After his military service, he worked for the Bloomfield Post Office before joining the Newark Police Department where he worked for 20 years. During his tenure on the force, Tony had the responsibility and pleasure of bringing 7 babies into the world, quite an achievement. After relocating to Florida, he joined the Highland Beach Police Department in 1984 and soon after served as the Chief of Police until his retirement in 2004. He then joined the Broward County Sheriff’s Office as a Court Bailiff where he remained in service for 15 years doing what he loved.
In addition to spending time with his family and friends, Tony enjoyed reading, history, watching sports and old westerns, the beach and spending time at his cabin in the Tennessee mountains.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Lucille; his children Mark (Vicki), Joanne (John), Tracy (Dennis) and Lisa; his grandchildren Kelly Ann (Christian), Kelli Marie (Zach), Lindsay (Justin) and Corey; his great-grandchildren Cooper, Logan and Henry; his nephew Bobby, niece Mary and great-niece Christine, along with many other nieces, nephews and extended family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tony’s memory to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Fraternal Order of Police.
