Anthony Stephen Vitale

November 22, 1933 – May 11, 2025

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of A. Stephen (Steve) Vitale on May 11, 2025, at the age of 91.

Steve was the beloved husband of 54 years to Vilma Vitale, a devoted father to Valerie, Stephen, and Randall and his wife Kelly. He was a proud grandfather to Grayson and Presley, and also leaves behind his cherished grand-dog, Maria, who brought him immense joy and companionship.

Born in New Castle, Pennsylvania in 1933, Steve grew up with a deep sense of curiosity about the world. He attended College of the Holy Cross for his undergraduate studies and went on to earn his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center, preparing him for a career in public service.

Steve dedicated much of his life to the service of his country through his work in the U.S. Foreign Service and the U.S. State Department. Over the course of his career, he held postings around the world, including Italy, Spain, Germany, and The Bahamas, forging diplomatic connections and representing American values with integrity, intelligence, and humility.

Those who knew Steve remember his sharp wit, wisdom and love of good food. He was a true gentleman, was one of quiet strength, deep faith, and always offering encouragement and warmth to those around him.

Steve’s legacy lives on in the values he instilled in his family and the many friends and loved ones whose lives he touched.
