Blanca Escribano, age 92, passed away peacefully on March, 17, 2024 in Boca Raton. She is survived by her daughter, Fe and son-in-law Joe Zamora, her son Eduardo Escribano, her grandchildren Alyssa Zamora Henriquez and Dwight Henriquez, Joey Zamora and Heather Lane, Lauren and Michael Escribano, and her great grandchildren Lula Zamora and Bernie Escribano. Other loving family members include Alice Zamora, Jorge Gomez, Marlene Denis, Vianca, Violet and Bobby Orozco, Donna Lane, Sevilla, Adrian and Rito Sanchez.
Blanca, affectionately known as Mima, Esperanza, Abuela and Bisa, was born on November 27, 1931 in Havana, Cuba. She was one of eight children, including her identical twin sister Fe, and sister Rosa, with whom she shared a special bond. Blanca met her one true love, Miguel, in Cuba and they married and had two children together, Fe and Eduardo.
Blanca was a loving, compassionate and fearless woman who was unapologetically devoted to her family. She and her husband yearned for a better life for their kids, and they sacrificed everything to pursue the American Dream. The family of four came to the U.S. in 1965 and settled in Connecticut. Blanca and Miguel worked multiple jobs each to make ends meet, and their children went on to become first-generation college graduates, even receiving master’s degrees. Blanca and Miguel moved to Florida in 1989, where they proudly purchased their home (in cash) and later retired.
Blanca was a woman of faith and love. She loved to dance and was often the life of a party. She had a zest for life and that undeniable fire within her is what kept her “young” all these years.
Blanca’s husband passed away unexpectedly in 2010, leaving a hole in her heart. She lived for another 13 years after his passing, experiencing the beautiful blessings any Abuela would eagerly await. She saw her grandchildren get married and also have kids of their own. She always said the most important thing in life was to love and be loved because love has the power to move all things.
She was a fighter until the very end, with her daughter lovingly caring for her by her side. The family is comforted knowing that she is no longer suffering and she’s now reunited with her family, including her twin Fe and her one true love, Miguel. Blanca will be loved and missed, and her memory forever etched in our hearts.
A celebration of life for Blanca will be held Monday, April 1, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Babione Funeral Home, 10060 Calle Comercio Drive, Boca Raton, FL 33428, followed by a prayer service from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM. Flowers can be sent directly to the funeral home.
