She lived with her parents George and Ellen and sister Daphne in Rye, New York during her childhood and early adult life.
Patty held positions of increasing responsibility while working at Cheseborough-Ponds in New York City and subsequently in Stamford, CT.
Patty married Marty Paris and shortly thereafter moved to Boca Raton, Florida where she lived for the past 40 years. While in Boca, she worked as a realtor for several years. But those are the details, and certainly not the substance of Patty's life.
Patty was loyal beyond question to her friends. She would arduously defend anyone she believed in. Patty's laughter and sense of fun would infect anyone who knew her. When dining out, the laughter at her table often triggered strangers to join in. At her favorite eating places so many people talked to her that staff often was asked if she was a celebrity ... and to those who really knew her, she was.
Patty was not only devoted to her friends but to the rescue and care of animals, particularly cats. She co-founded the cat rescue organization, Cause for Paws, a not for profit cat rescue established to assist Florida's community cat caregivers and the cat colonies in which they serve. It would be impossible to count the number of animals' lives saved by Patty. She also sheltered cats at her home and went out nightly for many years to feed stray animals who depended on her for subsistence, regularly putting herself in numerous situations where caution was necessary. It cannot be under-estimated the countless number of animals Patty helped.
The following are not Patty's words but words that would appropriately reflect how Patty led her life:
….and when the ending has come and I've reached my final judgement day,
may it be said that always I cared for the animals who could not help themselves.
Patty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
