Eric Roy Sr.

Beloved coach, teacher, high school administrator, devoted husband, and loving father, and Opa Eric Roy Sr. will be forever loved. Eric passed at his home in Parkland, Florida on November 21, 2024, at the age of 83 after a courageous battle with cancer. Eric was surrounded by his family who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.

Eric achieved much in his storied life. Born in war torn Europe and growing up in post war Germany he emigrated to the US at the age of 15. A Reavis H. S. graduate Eric would go on to serve in the US Army and eventually attend Northern Illinois University earning a B.A. in education. Eric completed his M.A. in education at the University of Illinois.

Eric is survived by his adoring wife Sona and his only son Eric Jr. and his spouse Allison and his two granddaughters Seraphina and Susie. Additionally, his younger brother Willy and his nephews Willy Jr., Markus, and Karsten and their families. Eric’s parents Leokadia and Wilhelm and his younger brother Raymond welcome him to his rest in Jesus’s loving arms.

Eric found joy in his life serving others especially children, dedicated to a career of changing lives for the better. We are so happy that he was able to spend many days with his family and grandchildren who brought him the greatest joy. We love you Dad and will never forget your impact on all of our lives for the better.
