The fifth child out of ten, Frances was born on November 17, 1944, to Patrick and Frances Halloran in the Castle Hill neighborhood of the Bronx, NY where she attended Holy Family Schools and St. Helena’s High School. In her childhood, Frances enjoyed going on adventures with her brothers and their best friend from across their building’s alleyway, Michael Lawlor, who would become her loving husband of nearly 50 years on August 8, 1964. Frances and Michael started their family in the Bronx, NY before settling in Putnam Lake, NY for 31 years where they enjoyed a close friendship and many fun occasions with neighbors Mickey and Barbara Starr as they raised their children together. She was a gentle and affectionate, yet loyal and protective mother. Frances enjoyed being a homemaker welcoming all into her home which remained the center of her family’s gatherings until her passing.
In 1999, Frances moved to South Florida with her husband where she perfected her role as a grandmother. Her most treasured relationships were those with her six granddaughters, five grandsons, and grandson-in-law sharing her love of baking, cooking, coffee, reading, Elvis, Harry Belafonte, and crossword puzzles with them. Frances enjoyed being a spectator at many of their events including baseball games, horseback riding, plays and musicals, taekwondo programs, soccer games, and wrestling matches. When Frances’ grandchildren grew into adults, she was over the moon with the arrival of her first great-grandson adding a new generation of joy and wonder to her life.
Frances will be remembered for her fierce dedication and love for her faith, her family, and her country. She will be missed greatly but will live on through the memories of all that she touched with her grace, kindness, resilience, and strength.
