

Helen was born June 30, 1923 in Street,Maryland to the late Bud and Cynthia Clyde Rhudy. She was predeceased by her loving husband, of 63 years, Joseph in 2008. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Joy and David Goddard and her son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Claudia Scharer, grandchildren Amy(Ethan)Pitsch, Megan (Jason)Tuls, Bethany(Brad) Speece, Calie (Kevin) Mckinnon, Ryan (Dawn) Scharer, great grandchildren, Evelyn Pitsch, Anna and Hollyn Tuls, Ethan, Maya, Gwen and Gabe Speece ,Carter, Tyler, Chase and Cameron McKinnon, Ryleigh, Samuel, and Harper Scharer. In addition to being known as a loving mother and grandmother Helen was best known for her music. She was an accomplished pianist, accompanist, piano teacher, organist, choir director and handbell choir director. For 29 years Helen partnered in ministry with her husband, Rev. Joseph Scharer, as the Director of Music at First Presbyterian Church of Plantation. Her final ministry was to St. Andrews Estates as the chapel accompanist. Services will be held with Reverend Dan Myers officiating at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home, 1100 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton, Fl 33432 on September 22, 2023 at 11 am followed by a committal service from 1:30 - 2 pm at South Florida National Cemetery 6501 South State Rd 7, Lake Worth, Florida 33449 In lieu of flowers, the Scharer family is requesting donations be made to Spanish River Church Planting.
A funeral service for Helen will be held Friday, September 22, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Babione - Kraeer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 1100 North Federal Highway, Boca Raton, FL 33432. Following the funeral service will be a committal service from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 South State Road 7, Lake Worth, FL 33449.
