Bream, Joan Davies, age 87, died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012. Beloved wife of Edward, and proud mother of Edward, Jr., she died peacefully at home in the embrace of her son and daughter-in-law. She devoted a lifetime to charitable volunteer leadership, both in Pittsburgh, PA in her early years, and in Palm Beach County, where her innovative service as a board member (now emeritus), tour guide and historical expert with the Boca Raton Historical Society left an indelible image that remains today. Her love for travel and adventure started as a child and carried through to her later years as she continued to explore the world. She attended Chatham College, and was the daughter of Thomas J. Davies (Harriet), a three-time all-American at the University of Pittsburgh and a member of the College Football hall of Fame. Her husband Edward passed away in 1989, but her love for him remained undiminished in the intervening years. She is survived by her son Edward, Jr. (Patricia) of Haddonfield, NJ, three grandchildren, Ryan, Kristen and Drew, many nieces and nephews, her sister, Doris Davies Wagner of Pittsburgh, PA and her sister-in-law, Jane Bream Clarkson of St. Augustine, FL. A Committal Service will be held at Boca Raton Mausoleum on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 11AM. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Gregory’s Episcopal Church on Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions in her honor be made to the Hospice by the Sea, 1531 W. Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL 33486. Arrangements entrusted to Kraeer Funeral Home, www.KraeerBocaRaton.com.
