John Lockett Hodde passed away on June 21st, 2016. He was born in Detroit, Michigan and moved to south Florida as a youngster in 1958. John grew up in Boca Raton, and graduated from Boca Raton Senior High School in 1972 and from Florida State University in 1976. Majoring in business, he worked for a number of years at a computer company and more recently at a orthopedic shoe manufacturer.
John was an avid Florida State football fan and loved to support his team, especially when FSU faced off against rivals. He took special pleasure in talking smack with his brothers when FSU beat up on their colleges’ football teams, which happened a lot.
His favorite hobby was collecting knickknacks at garage sales and reselling them on Ebay. John also enjoyed riding his bike and playing Bingo.
John was a great brother and son, always able to find special ways to let us know that he cared for us. He was a very loyal friend, many of whom he kept up with since his high school days. John will be missed dearly.
John was preceded in death by his father Henry Busch Hodde Sr., mother Patricia Kessler Hodde, and brothers Henry Busch Hodde, Jr., and Thomas Barry Hodde. He is survived by two sisters, Janet Hodde-Vargas (Luis) of Corrales, NM, and Susan Hodde-Dancy (Robert) of Taylors, SC, and three brothers, Richard (Debbie) of Charlotte, NC, Michael (Betsy) of Delray Beach, FL, and Brian Hodde of Bismarck, ND. John also leaves behind Nancy Thorpe-Hodde (Henry Busch, Jr.), five nieces and four nephews.
A celebration of John’s life and reception with family members will be held at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home (1100 N. Federal Hwy., Boca Raton, FL) on Saturday, June 25th from 11 am – 1 pm.
