Paul Hernandez was born on December 4th, 1951 in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He moved to New York as a child and shortly after met the love of his life and wife of 49 years, Nelva. At the time, Paul was 16 and Nelva was 19. They married in 1971 and had three beautiful daughters. In August of 1989, Paul and Nelva moved their family to Boca Raton, Florida. Once in Florida, Paul worked at the Festival Flea Market where he stayed for several years before he went to work at Hammock Pointe Elementary School. After spending 15 years at Hammock Pointe, Paul celebrated his retirement. He spent his retirement visiting loved ones and capturing his favorite moments on his phone – to remember forever.
Paul was a hardworking man who loved God and his family. He was a craftsman and a teacher. He could fix anything and often spent his days working on his house and tending to his plants. He took advantage of every opportunity he had to share his knowledge with someone and always offered potential solutions to help them with their problems. He spent his downtime watching TV. From crime shows, to sports, to gameshows – he watched it all. When it came to sports, his favorite team was the Yankees.
Above all else, Paul was a husband, a father, a grandfather, and a great grandfather. He enjoyed going out with his wife, talking on the phone and visiting his daughters, and playing games with all of his grandchildren. He’s known in his family for being a great storyteller (with sound effects), an honest man, and the best at-home family feud contestant.
Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife Nelva, his 3 daughters Virginia (Angel), Christine (Angelo), and Valerie (Wesley), his 10 grandchildren Angel (Gabrielle), Noah, Trinity, Bethany, Jordan, Miles, Sydney, Ang Jr., Analise, and Madison. As well as his great grandchild Wynn and 7 nieces Tina, Gina, Ruby, Angie, Abigail, Mary, & Hester.
