Shawn Patrick Wolf, a devoted father, husband, son, nephew, friend, and attorney, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at the age of 55. At the time of his passing, he was doing one of the things he loved best, having travelled with his children to attend a Comic Convention in Mesa, Arizona. He left this world surrounded by his children and so many close friends he made over the years as part of the Comic Convention community. Shawn was truly one of a kind, and his family, friends, and colleagues will always feel the loss of his presence in their world.
Shawn was born on November 28th,1970, to Patricia Wolf (Banzhoff), in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Growing up in Lancaster, Shawn met and formed close friendships with Lamont Cooke, whom he met at Lafayette Elementary School, and with Tony Homer, whom he and Lamont met at Lincoln Junior High School. Shawn, Lamont, and Tony graduated together from McCaskey High School, and the friendships between them remain to this day.
A dedicated academic, Shawn earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Miami; his Juris Doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; and his LL.M. in Taxation from the University of Miami School of Law. Shawn was admitted to the Florida Bar Association, and began his legal career under the direction and mentorship of Michael Rosenberg at the Law Offices of Packman, Neuwahl & Rosenberg, P.A., in Coral Gables, Florida. At the time of his passing, Shawn was serving as the Practice Leader for the Tax and Private Wealth Group at Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod LLP.
For over 25 years, Shawn has been an active member of the Florida Bar Association. He is a past Chair of the FBA Tax Section, and has served as Co-Director of the Long Range Planning Division, Co-Director of the Federal Tax Division, Co-Director of the Section Administration Division, and as a Director-at-Large and as Chair of the Outbound Tax Committee.
Shawn's family was the center of his world. He always looked forward to family vacations, whether they were spent traveling with his entire family or simply taking one or both of his children to one of the many Comic Conventions which take place throughout the country. One of his greatest joys in life was taking on the role of “Dad” to his two children, Kael and Amber. Shawn enjoyed playing with them, spoiling them, and loving them unconditionally, and did everything possible to make sure he gave his children only the best opportunities in life. He also had a special place in his heart for his furry babies, whose protective, loyal, and affectionate nature mirrored his own.
Shawn is survived by his wife, Michelle Wolf; his children, Kael Wolf and Amber Wolf; his uncle, Richard Banzhoff; his father-in-law, Felix Hagley; Linda Sirles, Shawn’s “adopted mom” and “bonus grandmother” to Kael and Amber; and many, many beloved friends and his Comic Convention family. He was a proud husband, father, brother and friend, and will always carry his love with them.
Along with his deep love for his family, Shawn was known for the unique sense of humor which is well known to his family and friends. He had a deep love for comic books and comic book art, he never passed on a conversation about comic books, and he held a special place for his beloved Pittsburgh sports teams.
Shawn’s legacy of love, laughter, and family will live on through his family and friends, all of whom were blessed to know him. His wish for his children is that they follow their dreams and live their lives to the absolute fullest, exceeding his own wishes for them. For all who knew and loved him, the greatest way to honor him and keep his memory alive will be to live happy lives and to travel the world making new adventures.
Shawn has always said that he bleeds black and gold, the colors of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Pittsburgh Pirates. To honor Shawn, the family is requesting that anyone who is planning to attend the visitation please dress in black and gold.
In lieu of flowers, Shawn and his family would appreciate donations made in Shawn's name to support the Disney WishMakers, who partner with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of America. You can find more information at www.wish.org/disney
