
Thomas Joseph Malone Sr. passed peacefully on May 25, 2016. He was born on January 4, 1930 in Staten Island, New York. Tom found a passion for golf at age 6, and won two Staten Island amateur championships. As a young man, Tom enlisted in the United States Navy during the time of the Korean War. He married Suzanne (Mulligan) Malone and moved to Boca Raton, FL to pursue a career in golf. He began his career at the Boca Raton Resort and Club working for Sam Snead. In 1962, Tom was offered a position as Director of Golf at Palm Aire Country Club in Pompano, FL. For 36 years, Tom mentored several aspiring golf professionals, was an active tournament player, and helped thousands learn to enjoy the game of golf. He was a lifetime PGA member, qualifying for two national PGA tournaments, and won the 1965 Florida Open. In his later years, Tom enjoyed riding his bike and spending time with family.
Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife, Suzanne Malone, brother, Eddie Malone (Connie), and his grandson, Michael Malone.
He is survived by his three sons, Thomas Joseph Malone Jr. (Eileen), Gary Malone (Gayle), and Donald Malone, grandchildren, Michaella, Keith, Angela, and Ari, and Tom’s siblings, sister, Kathleen Devine (Eugene), brother, Dennis Malone (Maureen).
The memorial service will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016, from 4-8pm at Babione-Kraeer Funeral Home in Boca Raton, FL.
