

William (Bill) Johnson, 87, of Boca Raton passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2018. Bill was born in Akron, Ohio on September 3, 1930, the oldest son of Christine and Elby Johnson. His three brothers preceded him in death.
Bill is survived by his wife Donna, two sons Rob and Brian, two daughter-in-laws whom he loved and was proud to call his own. Also surviving is 5 grandchildren to whom he was devoted and so very proud.
Bill began his career in education after serving two years in the US Army. For seven years he was a public school teacher and later an elementary and high school principal in Geauga County, Ohio.
Bill obtained his Ph.D. from Kent State University. He was assistant professor at Ball State University and an associate professor at New Mexico State University.
He became a university administrator at Colorado State University where he served as a department head, assistant academic vice president, assistant to the president, and for 11 years Dean of the College of Professional Studies. In 1986 he was appointed Dean of the college of education and Professor of Educational Leadership at the University of Central Florida. During his tenure there as Dean, the college was accredited by the NCATE. Following his tenure as dean he then held a joint faculty and administrative appointment as Professor of Education Leadership and state director for SACS commission of Secondary Schools. In 1998 he became an Adjunct Professor in Educational Leadership for Florida Atlantic University.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at Babione – Kraeer Funeral Home, 1100 North Federal Hwy, Boca Raton, FL, 33432 561-395-8787
