Barbara "Bobbie" Faye Varnam

Bobbie was born in New Hanover County on May 17, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Lonnie Augusta Singletary and Eliza Willetts Singletary. She was preceded in death by her husband Cortland Varnam; son, Terry Varnam; great grandchild, Ray Jones; siblings, Betty Lancaster, Minnie Brock and Roy Singletary. She was the founder and considered the Mother of Brunswick Community College.

She is survived by five children, Jill Dixon and husband Greg of Supply, Sammie Nell Duong of Wilmington, Mitchell Varnam and wife Diane of Supply, Agusta Varnam and wife Tammy of Supply, and Anna Diefendorf and husband Rich of Supply; grandchildren, Kent Wayne Nixon II, Mitch Varnam, Seth Varnam, Adam Nixon, Rev. Devon Varnam, Uriah Duong, Rev. Lonnie Varnam, Calida Duong Sellers, Monica Diefendorf, Adam Bottegal, and Laura Nye; great grandchildren, Jasmine Nixon, Ashley Nixon, Justin Jones, Ashley Hamilton, Samuel John Varnam, Elizabeth Ann Varnam, Cortland Sellers, Libby Sellers, Caleb Nixon, Lexie Long, Rowan Bottegal, Isabelle Bottegal, Reagan Varnam, Riley Varnam, Olivia Storks, Abigail Storks, Colin Varnam, and Jo Jo Nixon; great great grandchildren, Jeremiah Nixon, Elena Oliver, Kiah Honaker, Delilah Honaker, Abby Hamilton, Brooks Jones, and Ellis Hamilton; a brother, Johnny Singletary of Supply.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday July 2, 2024 at eleven o'clock in the morning at the Varnam Cemetery, Stanley Road, Supply with Reverend Gerald Kirby officiating.
