

Hayden O’Neil, son of the late Thomas Joseph O’Neil and Marjorie Hayden O’Neil, was born in Passaic, New Jersey on May 7, 1928. He grew up in Nutley, New Jersey and attended public schools their until he was accepted for his last two years of high school at Montclair Academy in Montclair, NJ. He was captain of their football team in his senior year.
Upon graduation Hayden served in the US Army 88th Infantry Division in Trieste, Italy, during WWII.
Returning home he was accepted at Colgate University and graduated in 1952.
Kaiser Aluminum Company transferred him to Charlotte, NC, where he lived for many years until he and his loving wife Pat moved to Ocean Isle Beach. Upon retirement, he opened Brunswick Business Center at Ocean Isle Beach.
His delight and pride was his association with Stuart Ingram, founder of the Museum of Coastal Carolina and Ingram Planetarium. He served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees upon Stuart Ingram’s death.
A funeral service will be held at Shallotte Presbyterian Church on Saturday January 31, 2015 at 3:00 pm. The family will receive friends immediately after the service at the Museum of Coastal Carolina. A military honor service will be held at the Museum prior to the reception.

Hayden and his wife Pat have a blended family. Hayden is survived by his wife Pat O’Neil; three sons, Hayden O’Neil Jr., Kevin O’Neil (Jenny), and Richard Parker (Pam); a daughter Sara Parker; two grandsons, Capt. Matthew Parker (Megan) and Tommy Parker; a great-grandson Jaxson Parker; two great-granddaughters, Lux and Jordyn Parker; and one sister Pat Dunthorn of Virginia Beach, VA.
