

Mrs. Mercer was born in Winnabow, NC on September 18, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Frank and Cora Flowers Rabon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woodus Mercer and her siblings, James Roy Rabon, Elsie Manning, Emma Louise Major, Lillian Watkins, Daniel Rabon, Wilber Rabon, Carter Rabon, Landis Rabon and Frankie Rabon. She was a faithful and dedicated member of New Hope Presbyterian Church of Winnabow where she has served as a Deacon and Elder and was a member of the Presbyterian Women. Mrs. Mercer was a member of the Winnabow Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She was a teacher’s aide at Bolivia Elementary School and later was a manager at Professional Answering Service where she retired. She loved her family dearly and her church.
She is survived by four children, Burwin Mercer (Tammy) of Shallotte, Brenda Clemmons (Dale) of Bolivia, Beverly Mercer and Bonnie Mercer of Leland; three sisters, Tonda Henry of Boiling Spring Lakes, Cheryl Mintz and Gayle Sullivan of Leland; grandchildren, Christy Grice (Darren), Amy Chapman (Ben), Travis Mercer (Erica), Alan Clemmons (Sara), Allison Wilkins (Brandon), and special granddaughter, Sondra Rabon Tow and children Levi and Gracie; great grandchildren, Garrett Grice (Margaret), Tyler Grice, Colton Chapman, Rabon Chapman, Sadie Chapman, Taylor Fowler, Clay Wilkins, Coleman Wilkins, Kayden Suggs and numerous nieces and nephews and extended family that she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023, at one o’clock in the afternoon at White Funeral and Cremation Service, Bolivia Chapel, with Pastor Lora Rissmiller and Reverend Anthony Clemmons officiating. Burial will follow in New Hope Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Winnabow.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Rabon, Jeff Rabon, Kenny Smith, Scott Rabon, Charles Henry, Eric Mintz, Dale Rabon and Freddie Watkins.
Honorary pallbearers will be Morry Watkins, Tom Rabon Sr., Charles Reynolds, David Watkins, Gary Rabon, Frank Lear, John Kopp, Jim Rabon, Bill Rabon, Rick Major, Ken Henry, Jr., and Gene Kye.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from eleven o’clock until one o’clock prior to the service.
