Jerry was born in Miami (pronounced My Amah) Florida in1938 to Ura and Una Webb. He grew up playing and fishing in Biscayne Bay and the Atlantic Ocean and graduated from Miami Edison High. He attended the University of Florida until he started to work for his cousin who owned DesRocher Sand and Towing where he learned to pilot tugboats and barges. Jerry worked many years at Pflueger Taxidermy, eventually purchasing the business.
Jerry started fishing at a very young age. He received his Captain's License and then ran and owned many boats. He fished all over this hemisphere. He was important as a founder of so many Sport Fishing Tournaments. He was a pioneer of the Artificial Reef Program. Jerry maintained many friendships from his fishing career, friends still dear to him and his family (there are many stories to be told).
He left Miami in the 90's with his daughter, Leanne and the love of his life, Helen to the mountains of NC. They recently moved to Wilmington, NC to be close to his daughter Laura and Al, Sam and Max, his grandsons.
He was predeceased by his beloved daughter, Linda. His parents, his brother Talmadge and many friends and cousins.
His life impacted many others and he "lived large". Always enjoying everything he did. He will be missed every day.
There will be an At Sea Sendoff somewhere in the gulfstream in the future.
