He was born on November 6, 1953 in Moore County, NC to the late James Robert Hines, Sr. and Veda Jacqueline Bushby Hines. Jon also was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Fulford Hines; a daughter, Michelle Hines; two brothers, James Robert Hines, Jr. and Patrick Francis Smith.
Jon was a very outgoing man who loved to find adventures from the mountains to the sea and all in between. He enjoyed singing hymns and playing his guitar. He didn't hesitate in claiming that " the Duke", John Wayne, was his dad. Definitely, he was the president of that fanclub. He never missed an opportunity to talk about how great his God is. He truly left his mark on many.
Surviving are his two daughters, Cynthia Hines of Southport, NC and Sarah Hines of Fayetteville, NC; two brothers, Luther Owen Hines of Aberdeen and Craig Hines of Kerens, TX; a sister Anna Catherine Smith Kurtz of Missouri; eight grandchildren, Michel Maliek, Michelle, Mikayla, Mylea, Xavier, Matthew and Mauricia; four great-grandchildren, Aurora, Jayden, Heavenly and Amira; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at two o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at Sabbath Home Baptist Church Cemetery, Supply, NC, with Pastors Thomas Mingin, Craig Hines and John Brown officiating.
