Morrison Watkins

Mr. Watkins was born in New Hanover County on August 30, 1947 and was the son of the late Morrison B. Watkins, Sr. and Lillian Pearl Rabon Watkins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, William Roger Watkins, Donald Ray Watkins and John Thompson Watkins.

Mr. Watkins began his career with Dupont in 1967 and retired after 35 years and then his career continued for several years with DAK America where he served as personnel supervisor. He volunteered with Brunswick County Parks & Recreation for 30 years where he was very instrumental in establishing parks throughout Brunswick County. He served as treasurer with the Leland Hot Stove League Baseball and also was active in their fundraising events. He enjoyed traveling to the mountains and was a member of Leland First Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Linda B. Watkins, of the home; sons, Timothy Michael Watkins and wife, Patricia, of Beulaville, NC and Christopher Matthew Watkins and wife, Traci, of Currie, NC; grandchildren, Brittany Burnett, Cameron Watkins, Paige Hales, and Hayden Watkins; great grandchildren, Jaiden Stallings, Brooklyn Hales, Parker Hales, Jackson Hales, Wrenley Watkins, and Braxtyn Burnett; brother, David Watkins and wife, Amy, of King, NC.

A memorial service will be held Friday, February 20, 2026 at two o’clock in the afternoon at the First Baptist Church of Leland with Rev. Kevin Groves officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorials be directed to Lower Cape Fear Lifecare, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC.
