She will be remembered with a memorial service on Tuesday, March 14, at 3pm at the White Funeral and Cremation Service at 603 Ocean Hwy E. Bolivia, NC 28422.
Nancy was born in 1954 to Virginia and Harley Stamper in Washington, DC, and spent much of her life in the DC area. She grew up in Mount Rainier, MD. She raised her two children and spent nearly 30 years in Jefferson, MD, before retiring to Bolivia, NC. She enjoyed a varied professional life, spending time as an assistant and ASL interpreter in the psychology department of Gallaudet College in Washington, DC, running a home day care, and eventually becoming the Facilities Security Officer at Viasat, where she retired in 2016.
She enjoyed sewing and was a talented seamstress and embroiderer, often making beautiful gifts for her family and friends. She enjoyed traveling, spending time at the beach, and driving her convertible (fast) with the top down in the North Caroline sunshine. Most of all, she loved having her whole family together.
Nancy was an incredibly loving wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt, and is survived by her husband of 44 years, Dennis; son, Christopher; daughter, Jessica; and grandchildren Kaylee and Hunter; sister, Sarah; nieces Sadie and Elaine, and nephew Steven; and her favorite furball Lucy. Nancy was a central force to family and friends, and her loss will be felt deeply.
Nancy was fiercely independent and a tough fighter, who battled pancreatic cancer with all she had. She received excellent care from teams at both Novant Health and Johns Hopkins. In her final weeks, she received excellent care from the hospice team at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare and the SECU Hospice House at Brunswick.
If you are so moved, you could make a donation in her honor to the Hospice House or the Pancreatic Cancer Action Organization.
