Mr. Roderick Dale McDowell

He was born October 16, 1948 in New Hanover County, NC and was the son of the late Benjamin and Evelina Sellers McDowell. He was a member of Faith Community Chapel where he served as a former Sunday School teacher and former president of Brunswick County Fishing Club. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed offshore fishing. Mr. McDowell was the founder and president of the Long Bay Artificial Reef Association and his favorite past-times were cooking and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Ruby Lee McDowell, of Bolivia; two daughters, Rosalyn Mendez (Hector) of Jefferson, MD and Beverlee James (Kent) of Bolivia; brother, Dwight McDowell (Trish) of Ocala Florida; three grandchildren, Breanna and Martina Mendez and William Dale James.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service for Mr. McDowell will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon of Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at Faith Community Chapel with Rev. Lewis Benton officiating. Burial will follow in the Faith Community Chapel cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 12:45 prior to the service in the Faith Community Chapel sanctuary.
