
William Merriel Shook Jr., 68, of Supply passed away on July 22, 2015 at home after a valiant battle with cancer. Bill was born in Bluffton, Ohio on December 26, 1946 the son of the late William M. Shook Sr and Imogen Crawford Shook. Bill graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1965 and Michigan State University in 1969. He was an avid Spartan fan. He worked as an accountant and system analyst for the US General Accounting Office. He served his country in the US Army from 1970-1972.
Bill learned service at a young age when he achieved Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He continued that service to the community throughout his life and was always a man of integrity. Bill and Susan loved to travel, sail and enjoy tours with the Blue Ridge Packard Club. A memorial service has not yet been scheduled. Bill is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan Courtney Shook, two sisters Susan Crawford and Virginia O’Haver, brothers-in-law Martin O’Haver, Stanley Courtney and Kevin Courtney, sisters-in-law Marcia Strong, Julia Courtney and Cheryl Courtney, nieces Shannon Farrell, Amy Holler, Moira Funcheon, Julianne Strong, Ellen Courtney, Erin Courtney, Deloise Strong and Chelsey Courtney, nephews Thomas Strong, Eamonn Courtney, Ryan Strong, Jeffrey Courtney, Tony Farrell and David Funcheon, grand nieces Shannon Strong, Hailey Farrell, Addison Holler and grand nephews Anthony Farrell, Sean Strong, Keegan Courtney and Killian Courtney, aunt Marge Oyster, cousins Ricky Oyster, Sandra Mackemull , Lowell Oyster and Ron Fisher in addition to his many friends.
