Born on December 28, 1952, in the Philippines, Amado carried with him a lifelong pride in his heritage, which shaped his character, values, and enduring sense of community. He went on to serve his adopted country with distinction in the United States Navy, rising to the rank of Chief Petty Officer (E-7). Throughout his naval career, he was known as a steady and respected leader—someone who mentored junior sailors, upheld the highest standards, and led with both strength and compassion.
Beyond his military service, Amado was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Nellie, and a proud and loving father to his two daughters, Leslie and Emily, and son, Bryce. His family was the cornerstone of his life, and he found his greatest joy in their accomplishments and the time they shared together. He was also a cherished grandfather to six grandchildren, Jordan, Hayden, Dia, Cameron, Azariah, and Rebel, who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Amado had a passion for sports and could often be found watching games with enthusiasm, sharing spirited conversations with friends and loved ones. He also had a deep love for Scrabble, where his quick wit, competitive spirit, and sharp mind were always on full display.
He will be remembered for his integrity, quiet strength, sense of humor, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. His legacy lives on in his family, in the sailors he guided and inspired, and in the many lives he touched along the way.
Fair winds and following seas, Chief Naanos. Your watch is complete, and you will be deeply missed.
