With deep sorrow, we announce that Amor Manasan Lopez - a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, joined our Creator on the evening of February 3, 2025. Amor passed peacefully at the age of 70 surrounded by her loved ones at the hospital in San Diego, California. She was a woman devoted to her family and was a symbol of resilience and love. Amor will always be remembered for her bright and adventurous spirit, generosity, her strong faith, and good deeds and values. But will mostly be remembered for her loving soul and dedication to her family, relatives, and friends.
Amor was born on January 26, 1955 in Manila, Philippines, to Alejandro Manasan and Alejandra Guevarra. Amor was the fifth born of seven children. In the Philippines, Amor studied at the Chinese General Hospital School of Nursing and earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing at the Philippine Women's University. Amor worked as an ER nurse in the evenings, and helped at her mother’s store during the day, before migrating to the United States in 1981.
In the US, Amor pursued her dream of a career in banking in Los Angeles, California. Amor and Cesar were wed in 1983 and eventually planted their roots in Chula Vista, California in 1990. Amor retired as a bank Operations Manager in 2013 at the age of 58. Amor had a successful and bright career in banking; however, it was the life-long friendships she forged during her tenure that became her most cherished career accomplishment.
Amor was the heart of her family, and her love for her husband and children knew no bounds. She was a fierce protector, a gentle guide, and a source of unwavering support. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and her love for them radiated through every aspect of her life. Amor's devotion to her family was unparalleled. Despite how busy her work schedule was, she made sure dinner was shared as a family every single night and quality time was spent on weekends watching movies or visiting her favorite restaurants, and traveling as a family often, near or far, to create fun and lasting memories.
Travel and shopping were Amor’s favorite pastimes. A true adventurer at heart, Amor found joy in exploring the world. Whether it was a spontaneous road trip, a journey to a faraway country, or a quiet retreat to nature, she reveled in new experiences and the beauty of discovering the unknown. Her love for travel wasn’t just about seeing new places—it was about the people she shared the journey with, the stories shared, and the memories made along the way. Upon retiring, she and Cesar seized every opportunity to discover different parts of the world. They welcomed many friends and relatives to travel the world with them, experiencing many wonderful and memorable cruises and land tours with travel buddies. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and she inspired those around her to live life with open arms and an adventurous spirit.
Amor also loved to dance, earning the title “Dancing Queen” of the family. Her bright personality lit up every room she entered. She loved making others laugh and always aimed to bring out the fun and the best in people and every moment. She enjoyed entertaining family, relatives and friends both at home and in those numerous travels and escapades. Her energy could turn an ordinary moment into something unforgettable, and she had an incredible ability to make everyone feel like they were the most important person in the world. Whether she was telling stories, dancing to her favorite songs, or simply sharing a cup of coffee with a friend, her presence brought joy and comfort.
Amor is survived by her loving husband Cesar, daughters Louise Ann (husband Darrell) and Charmaine (husband Reuben), and her cherished grand-daughters Olivia and Isabelle, who will forever carry her love, her adventurous spirit, and her warmth in their hearts. She also leaves behind a wide circle of friends and relatives whose lives were touched by her kindness, humor, and love for life. True to her name, Amor was full of love; as she was well-loved and will be missed by many.
Rest in peace, Amor. Your light, love, and infectious laughter will continue to inspire us, and your spirit will forever be a part of every adventure we take. You will always be loved and will never be forgotten.
