Angele E. Georggin

(November 23, 1920 – March 10, 2016)

Angie passed away peacefully at her home of 66 years in Chula Vista, CA on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the incredible age of 95. She is survived by her two children, Theodora Papastathis (Jim) and Ernest Georggin (Julie); her three granddaughters Andonia Carter (Courtney), Angela McMillan (James) and Elisa Papastathis; and her two great grandsons Michael Carter and Benjamin McMillan. She was pre-deceased by her late, loving, husband of 55 years Fred Georggin.

Born Angele Eliopulos in Lancaster, CA on November 23, 1920 the oldest daughter of Panayoti and Stavroula Eliopulos. She is pre-deceased by her siblings Duke, George, Helen, Cris, Ted, and Charlie. Angie grew up during the roaring 20’s having many adventures with her siblings and neighboring cousins, on the family ranch in Lancaster. Fred and Angie married in 1946 and soon after settled in Chula Vista, CA where they would raise their children, be a part of the greater San Diego community, and live for the rest of their lives.

Angie was a woman of her generation. Smart, sassy, witty, independent, strong, resilient and loving. She was also an accomplished seamstress in her time. Angie enjoyed hosting parties and playing international rummy, working on puzzles and crosswords, knitting, writing poetry, going to the Del Mar race track with Fred, and indulging with a box of Nuts & Chews from Sees Candy. Angie was a devoted and loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother. Everyone who knew and loved her will miss her incredible spirit.

Trisagion service will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23rd at Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, CA. Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 26th at St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 43404 30th St W, Lancaster, CA. Interment to follow at Joshua Tree Memorial Cemetery, Lancaster, CA.

In lieu of flowers, Angie’s family requests donations to be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 3655 Park Blvd, San Diego, CA 92103.
