

Everyone’s life is the sum total of all of the people they have met, the things they have done, the places they have gone. Beatriz Corpuz Gutierrez was no exception. She was a loved one, a friend, and someone special. To family and friends who knew her best, Beatriz will be remembered as a very exceptional person.
Beatriz’s life journey began on August 1, 1918. She first greeted the world in Tayug, San Nicolas, Pangasinan, Philippines. Her parents' names were Eulogio Corpuz and Maria Laugo Corpuz. She was raised in San Nicolas with five siblings, brothers Victorino, Faustino, Mariano and Felipe and one sister, Leonarda.
Beatriz met and fell in love with Severino Fres Gutierrez and the couple exchanged wedding vows on October 4, 1940. The wedding took place at Branch 4 Municipal Court in Manila, Philippines. Empathic and loyal, Beatriz and her husband shared a loving marriage.
While everything a person does in life contributes to who they grow into, it is ultimately this same person who holds the most influence on the next generation. Beatriz was blessed with eleven children, Ligaya, Joey, Mila, Corrie, Esther, Lita, Letty, Tessie, Nida, Oyet and Jojo. Beatriz worked hard to be a good mother to her children and she did her best to fulfill their needs, raising her children in a positive and nurturing environment. After the untimely passing of her husband Severino, Beatriz sacrificed much to support her family. Through all her hard work, Beatriz proudly sent all of her children to college.
Later in life, Beatriz was blessed with the gift of ten grandchildren, Gene Ray, Tina Marie, Evelyn, Johannes, Maricris, Nida Marie, Christian, Meaghan, Dylan and Glenn and five great- grandchildren, Izzy, Mia, Ethan, Emma and AJ.
How a person performs in the workplace can be a reflection on how they live their life. Fortunately, Beatriz enjoyed what she did for a living. Showing a strong work ethic, Beatriz worked diligently and did her best to succeed in each of her occupations. Beatriz worked as a business woman and homemaker for over 30 years.
Beatriz enjoyed her leisure time by taking part in a number of different activities, including cooking, sewing and singing. She was always happy to share her interests with others.
Beatriz Gutierrez left us on July 23, 2011. She passed away in Chula Vista, California. She is survived by her loving children, Ligaya, Joey and wife Paz, Mila and husband Erwin, Corrie, Esther and husband Billy, Lita, Letty, Tessie, Nida, Jessie and wife Mildred and Jojo; her grandchildren Gene Ray, Tina Marie, Evelyn, Johannes, Maricris, Nida Marie, Christian, Meaghan, Dylan and Glenn and her great-grandchildren Izzy, Mia, Ethan, Emma and AJ. Services were handled by Glen Abbey Mortuary. A funeral mass was held at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Chula Vista on August 4, 2011. Beatriz was laid to rest at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
Simply stated, Beatriz was a good and kind person, an individual who will for all time be remembered by her family and friends as being caring and giving, someone who was a vital part of their lives. Beatriz leaves behind her a legacy of lifelong friendships and many cherished memories. Everyone whose life Beatriz Corpuz Gutierrez touched will always remember her with a smile.
