

Born on February 7th, 1932, in Pangasinan, Philippines, Ben was born to Delores and Pedro Nation. As a boy, Ben Lagman was influenced by the occupation and liberation of the Philippines by the Japanese and Americans during World War II that he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Ben, embarking on his 20-year military career took him to places around the Pacific and exposed him to many new adventures.
While in the Navy, Ben met his lovely wife Akiko while on a tour of Yokosuka, Japan, where he courtship her and was married on January, 5th 1960. After arriving in the U.S., they decided to start a family and had three son’s Ivan, Michael and Glenn.
After 20 years in the U.S. Navy, Ben Lagman retired in 1978; he received the Nation Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal with Silver Star (five times), briefly worked for the Navy as a Security Officer and eventually worked at NASSCO as a Security Officer where he retired after 20 years.
Away from work, Ben Lagman enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. When his sons were growing up, he loved to take them fishing and taught them gardening. Soon after retiring, Ben had a passion for Bingo at Viejas and loved the San Diego Chargers. He also traveled later in life and enjoyed some travels from Hawaii, Seattle, The Midwest and particularly enjoyed Yellowstone National Park.
Ben Lagman is survived by Akiko, his wife of 52 years; his sons, Ivan, Mike and Glenn; his daughter-in-laws, Ania, Suzanne and Salome; and his two grandchildren, Alexsander and Lihiwai.
Viewing will be held Sunday, March 18th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Glen Abbey‘s The Little Chapel of the Roses, 3838 Bonita Rd, Bonita, CA 91902 619-498-4600. Service will be held Monday, March 19th, at 10:00 a.m. in Glen Abbey‘s The Little Chapel of the Roses. After the services, interment with military honors at Miramar National Cemetery, 5795 Nobel Drive, San Diego, CA 92122 858-658-7360.
