Blanca Rosa Geering

Blanca was born on March 12, 1929 in El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico. She was the second youngest of seven children born to Guillermo Prieto Delgado and Rosa Olea Velderain. When she was 12 years old, her family moved to Mexicali, BC, Mexico. She met the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Geering, while growing up along the Mexico and California border. She married James at age 21 in 1950.

After their marriage, Jimmy served in the Army during the Korean War. Jimmy and Blanca settled in Chula Vista where they purchased a home in 1954 and never left. They raised five children: Sylvia, Claudia, Melissa, Jimmy and Paul.

Blanca welcomed everyone into her home for food, rest, and conversation. Family and friends were always treated to the best homemade Mexican food in her impeccably clean home. Blanca loved to shop, play backjack and bingo, and have a Sunday afternoon coffee with her friends. She never met a baby who did not make her smile and she never tired of playing ‘restaurant’ with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

From the age of 19 until her death, Blanca survived multiple illnesses relying on her faith and resilience. She suffered a brain injury at age 19 when she fell off a horse. Later in life, she survived multiple forms of cancer and lived with Alzheimer’s. In her last years, she asked daily to go home even when she was in her own home. Her children find comfort knowing that she has finally found her way home.

Blanca is preceded in death by her mother Rosa; her father Guillermo; her sisters Consuelo, Leticia, Hortencia, Amparo, and Adelina; her brother Jacinto; and her beloved viejito, Jimmy, with whom she spent 43 years of marriage.

Blanca is survived by a large family who were blessed by her presence and amazed at her strength. She is survived by her oldest daughter Sylvia Geering who cared for her in these last years. She is also survived by her children and their respective spouses: Claudia and Dusty Faulkner; Melissa and Jonathon Desmarais; Jimmy and Hannah Geering; and Paul and Kameron Geering. She is also survived by her 13 grandchildren: Monica Faulkner, Stephanie Wondra, Tim Faulkner, Paul Thomas Hyde, Greg Faulkner, Nicole Yousif, Sydney Geering, Natalie Geering, Madison Geering, Giselle Geering, Parker Geering, Quinton Geering and Stone Geering. She is also survived by her grandchildren’s spouses, 14 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Blanca’s life will be held Thursday, February 6th at St. Rose of Lima Church in Chula Vista. A rosary will be said at 10:30 am and a mass will be held at 11am. A burial will immediately follow at Glen Abbey Cemetery.

Con sus hijos a su lado, Blanca Rosa Geering falleció pacíficamente el 24 de enero de 2020 en su casa en Chula Vista, California. Ella tenía 90 años.

Blanca nació el 12 de marzo de 1929 en El Fuerte, Sinaloa, México. Fue la segunda hija menor de siete hijos de Guillermo Prieto Delgado y Rosa Olea Velderain. Cuando tenía 12 años, su familia se mudó a Mexicali, BC, México. Conoció el amor de su vida, James “Jimmy” Geering, mientras crecía en la frontera de México y California. Se casó con James en 1950 cuando tenía 21 años.

Después de su matrimonio, Jimmy estuvo en el Ejército durante la Guerra Coreano. Jimmy y Blanca se mudaron a Chula Vista donde compraron una casa en 1954. Vivieron allí y criaron a cinco hijos: Sylvia, Claudia, Melissa, Jimmy y Paul.

Blanca dio la bienvenida a todos a su casa para comer, descansar y conversar. La familia y los amigos siempre disfrutaron de la mejor comida mexicana en su inmaculada casa. Blanca le encantaba ir de compras, jugar blackjack y bingo, y tomar un café el domingo por la tarde con sus amigos. Nunca conoció a un bebé que no la hizo sonreír y nunca se cansó de jugar "restaurante" con sus nietos y bisnietos.

Desde los 19 años hasta su muerte, Blanca sobrevivió muchos enfermedades con su fe y fuerza para seguir adelante. Se cayó de un caballo y sufrió una lesión cerebral cuando tenía los 19 años. También sobrevivió a muchas formas de cáncer y vivía con Alzheimer. En sus últimos años, ella le decía a su hijos cada día que quería a su casa pero en realidad siempre estaba en su propia casa. Sus hijos estaba ya encontró el camino a su casa n contentos que finalmente ella esta en su ultima casa.

Blanca fue la ultima sobreviviente de la familia Prieto Olea: su madre Rosa; su padre Guillermo; sus hermanas Consuelo, Leticia, Hortencia, Amparo y Adelina; su hermano Jacinto; y su querido viejito, Jimmy, con quien pasó 43 años de feliz matrimonio.

Deja una familia bendecida por su presencia y su impresionante fortaleza. Deja su hija mayor Sylvia Geering, que la cuidó en estos últimos años. También deja sus hijos y sus esposos: Claudia y Dusty Faulkner; Melissa y Jonathan Desmarais; Jimmy y Hannah Geering; y Paul y Kameron Geering. También deja sus 13 nietos: Monica Faulkner, Stephanie Wondra, Tim Faulkner, Paul Thomas Hyde, Greg Faulkner, Nicole Yousif, Sydney Geering, Natalie Geering, Madison Geering, Giselle Geering, Parker Geering, Quinten Geering y Stone Geering; los esposos de sus nietas,14 bisnietos y muchos sobrinos.

Celebraremos la vida de Blanca el Jueves 6 de Febrero en la iglesia de Santa Rosa de Lima en Chula Vista. Horario: 10:30 a.m. Rosario; 11:00 Misa cuerpo presente. Entierro después de la misa en Glen Abbey.
